Inaugural Tom Johnson Memorial Athletic Training Scholarship
Iowa State Athletic Training is proud to announce the inaugural Tom Johnson Memorial Athletic Training Scholarship. This $1,000 award will be given to one athletic training student at our annual end of the year awards banquet on April 24, 2016.
The Tom Johnson Memorial Scholarship was started by a group of Iowa State alums following the tragic death of Tom due to heart complications in the Winter of 2013. Tom showed everyone a strong and compassionate heart as he cared for family, friends, co-workers, students and athletes while following his passion for helping people and working as an athletic trainer.
Tom attended Iowa State from 1985-1990, serving as an athletic training student for football, basketball, swimming, tennis and baseball. After graduation, Tom was a high school athletic trainer in Texas for a number of years before furthering his education in technology integration, where he continued his work in the secondary setting.
Tom Johnson was a die-hard Iowa State Cyclone fan and proud athletic training alum. This scholarship will be awarded annually to one student who exemplifies the qualities that Tom displayed each day and throughout his career.
