Sports Medicine Staff
Iowa State University Student-Athletes are treated by an extrememely experienced, diversely talented, and nationally honored group of sports medicine professionals. The core of the staff includes certified athletic trainers, primary care and orthopedic sports medicine physicians, as well as many consultants and specialists.
ATHLETIC TRAINING STAFF
The Iowa State Athletic Training Staff is comprised of 17 full-time Certified Athletic Trainers. All staff members are certified by the Board of Certification and licensed by the Iowa Department of Public Health. This experienced staff is led by Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, Mark Coberley ATC, LAT.
PHYSICIANS
The Iowa State Sports Medicine Staff is led by Medical Director, Dr. Marc Shulman. Dr. Shulman is a primary care physician who has been working with Iowa State Student-Athletes for 30 years. We are supported by three additional outstanding physicians specializing in primary care or orthopedic surgery from McFarland Clinic.
CONSULTANTS & SPECIALISTS
When the need for specialty care arises; the Iowa State Sports Medicine Staff turns to a team of experienced consultants and specialists. This group of medical professionals have been identified as elite specialists in their area of expertise. These professionals are always willing to work with our staff and provide timely and quality healthcare to our student-athletes.
