Iowa State Concussion Management Plan
Iowa State Sports Medicine has been on the cutting edge of concussion identification and management for over a decade. The ISU Sports Medicine Staff utilizes the latest in technology and clinical assessment techniques to insure the health and well-being of our student-athletes. Technology used to baseline test all student-athletes when they are healthy and utilized again following a suspected concussion includes the C3Logix System (digital multifactorial testing of symptoms, reaction times, balance, ocular, and vestibular assessments), and the ImPACT Test (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) which is the most-widely used and most scientifically validated computerized concussion evaluation system at the present time. Baseline data comparisons with both systems and a thorough clinical evaluation are utilized to help make safe return to play decisions following a diagnosed concussion. The ISU Concussion Management Plan has been approved by the NCAA Concussion Commission and can be viewed on the links below.
