Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer Openings for 2016-2017
Iowa State University Sports Medicine is seeking qualified applicants for up to four (4) Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers for 2016-2017. Sport responsibilities could include work and travel with Football, Men’s and Women’s Track and Field, Recreation Services/Club Sports, and/or Head Athletic Trainer for a local 4A high school. Duties include but are not limited to: direct patient care (screen, evaluate, treat, rehabilitate, refer to physician as appropriate); maintain accurate and current medical records for assigned teams; assist with clinical proficiency education, supervision and education of athletic training students; assist with supervision of various satellite athletic training room operations as needed; and, other duties as assigned by their direct supervisor. GA’s are responsible for adhering to the rules and regulations of the department, University, Big 12 Conference, NCAA and other governing bodies as applicable.
These positions are 2-year appointments, renewable after the first year based on performance evaluation by the Iowa State University Sports Medicine staff.
Projected Stipend: $1,900/month effective July 1, 2016
Tuition Scholarship: A full tuition scholarship is provided to GAs each semester they meet the eligibility requirements (excluding cost of books and fees). GA tuition scholarships are not awarded during semesters that a student is on probation, restricted admission, or does not take the required number of academic credit hours.
Insurance: single health and prescription drug insurance coverage for the GA is paid for by the employer. GA can purchase health coverage for spouse/domestic partner/children and/or purchase dental coverage.
Job Qualifications:
Applicants must be BOC certified by July 1, 2016, and eligible for State of Iowa Licensure.
