Professional Information
Kylea Sheley joined the Iowa State Sports Medicine staff in January of 2026 working with Cyclone Softball. Sheley joins us after a 3.5 year stint at Drake University working with the football program. At Drake, she was promoted to Head Football Athletic Trainer for the final two seasons she worked with the Bulldogs, during which time the team completed a three-peat Pioneer Football League Championship run. Prior to her time in Des Moines, Sheley was at the University of South Dakota working with the women’s basketball program that saw a high level of success with multiple conference championships, NCAA post season berths, and the inaugural Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year winner. Sheley has experience working with a wide array of sports throughout her career, but has most enjoyed connecting with her athletes and focusing on their mental health. She has a passion in advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community serving as a Board Member for District 5. A 2011 graduate from Iowa State University, Sheley is thrilled to return to Ames and help continuously elevate the care for Cyclone Sports Medicine.
